6th Ibero American Sensory Analysis Symposium
Sao Paulo, Brazil, 19-21 August 2010

The 6th Sensiber (Ibero American Sensory Analysis Symposium) will be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil from 19-21 August 2010. The Conference is being organised by Embrapa Labex Europe and the Brazilian Association of Sensory Sciences (ACBS).

The first Sensiber was held at Campinas – SP, Brazil in 1996, and events were held in different Latin American countries. Significant numbers of delegates are expected from the whole of Latin America for the 2010 Conference.

Recognised scientists from academia and industry working in areas of sensory evaluation and consumer sciences have been confirmed as speakers, including:

4th European Conference on Sensory and Consumer Research Palacio Europa, Votoria-Gasteiz, Spain, 5-8 September 2010

The 4th European Conference on Sensory and Consumer Research (Eurosense, theme: “A Sense of Quality”) will be held at the Palacio Europa, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, from 5-8 September 2010. The Scientific Committee consists of representatives of Spanish universities and an industrial research centre.

The conference will discuss:

• the scientific pillars of sensory science (physiological, psychological, methods and statistical);
• health and ethical concerns in Europe and consumer affective responses to food;
• perceived quality of organic (and other sustainable production system) food products;
• sensory and marketing integration;
• sensory and non-sensory dimensions of food;
• consumer testing in the European multicultural society;
• sensory research and quality assurance of European specific products (PDO and traditional products);
• application of sensory analysis in food and non-food industries; and
• future of sensory and consumer science in Europe (academic, standards, regulations).

International Seminar on Sensory Science, Technology and Application 2010 Beijing, China, 21-22 October 2010

An International Seminar on Sensory Science and Technology and Application 2010 will be held in Beijing, China from 21-22 October 2010. The seminar is jointly sponsored by China National Institute of Standardization, Zhejiang Gongshang University, Centre Européen des Sciences du Goût (CESG) and École Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Industries Textiles (ENSAIT).

Keynote addresses will be presented by sensory specialists from China, France, New Zealand, Switzerland and the USA. Workshop sessions will focus on:

• Food sensory analysis methodology and its standardisation
• Senses and perception ;
• Correlation of instrument and sensory analysis;
• E-sense technology and its application; and
• Sensory marketing and consumer preferences.

The seminar is intended to provide an academic, technical and equipment exchange and demonstration platform for food and other consumer goods enterprises, institutions of higher learning and scientific research institutes to probe into the forward-looking and basic scientific issues in the area of sensory science and standardisation, demonstrate the progress and features of basic research, application and popularisation of sensory analysis in China, find out the trends and application tendencies of sensory analysis technology in the world and promote international academic exchange and cooperation as well as application cooperation between scientific research institutes and enterprises.

2nd Society of Sensory Professionals Conference Napa, California, USA, 27-29 October 2010

The Society of Sensory Professionals will hold their 2nd Conference with the theme “Transforming Science into Strategy” at the Napa Valley Marriott Hotel in Napa, CA, USA on 27-29 October 2010. The conference will examine new and strategic approaches in all aspects of sensory research, from product innovation, exploration, and development through marketplace management. The objective is to partner with business professionals and academia across all consumer packaged goods categories to advance the field of sensory evaluation and to educate members.
